JULY FISHING IN SW FLORIDA
July fishing has been really good with the advent of clean water, no Red Tide and beautiful hot Florida sunshine. Pictured her are two of my favorite fishing families, both with extensive military backgrounds.

Every 4th of July finds me taking out past clients and new clients to enjoy the holiday of ‘our country’s independence’. Fishing has picked up with the advent of cleaner, clearer water from the gulf, rivers and creeks. This has been a blessing to our estuary and the environment. Bait fish are abound with other species such as Seatrouts, Jacks, Redfish, Snook, Spanish Mackerel and Ladyfish again gracing the waters of Pine Island Sound, Matlacha Pass and Charlotte Harbor in good numbers.
Springtime and early summer boating brings out the best in family and friends. Recently I had the pleasure of taking one of my daughters and her family out for fishing, fun and frolic while they visited North Captiva Island during their vacation.

This writing features some really great times and moments with clients fishing with their families as well as boating and fishing with my family. This all came about after the successful Bonita Boat Show that Vicki and I attended at the Grey Hound Race Track in early March. Exhibitors featured a diversity of marine products, including fishing seminars to wet any angler’s appetite. It is also a time when Vicki and I have a few days together enjoying the industry that we represent while having the opportunity to spend one on one time with friends and clients, sharing fishing and boating experiences. I am pictured in a booth representing our company, FISH FACE CHARTERS LLC.

It is that time of year when the SWFMIA have their product show at the Grey Hound Race Track parking lot on Bonita Road. This is an exciting event that 1st Mate Vicki and I are always excited to participate. It starts on Thursday and ends Sunday (February 28-March 3rd). Look for us at the Coastal Angler Magazine/Fish Face Charters booths. I will also be doing daily fishing seminars at the Frank’s Fishing Village. These seminars are designed to assist fishermen and ladies looking to improve their level of experience and angling success through discussion and demonstrations. Vicki and I are encouraging anyone interested to stop by our booth and check the seminar schedule.

A lot of fun times and memories were made while fishing with Captain Terry Fisher over the holidays. Pictured here are several of my client friends and their families that I had the pleasure to spend time with on the water during the last week of December and into the first part of January 2019. Fishing was tough at times due to the cold fronts and other factors, but persistence seems to always provide just enough action to make it all worthwhile.

Early December fishing proved to many to be a great time to check and angler’s ability when targeting a fish-of-a-lifetime. Pictured here is my good friend John Hennessy of Indiana/Ft. Myers holding a 33″ Snook he landed. We used Pinfish in one of the many canals we targeted upon my returning from Breckenridge, Colorado to float fish for Rainbow and Brown Trout on the Colorado River. John was calm and collected as we waited for this brute to surface. Like many big Snook, this one stayed down like a big Jack Crevalle and tested the knot, line strength, rod and reel in hopes of failure. Good job, John!

Once again the Fort Myers Boat Show was a huge success. John Good, his lovely wife, Laura, and son, Kyle, did a fantastic job, providing vendors who offered and featured anything and everything that one might imagine for recreational opportunities on our beautiful waters.

It is that time of year again when one of the most exciting and most informative events will take place in beautiful SW Florida. 1st Mate Vicki and I always look forward to this 4 day extravaganza to visit and meet clients and future clients of Fish Face Charters. Visitors and locals alike will once again enjoy a season of boating and fishing, with products available for purchase at the event. I will be on hand at our booth along with Coastal Angler Franchisee’s of The Year, Phil and Nadeen Welch, to answer questions on boating and fishing products, including fishing charter opportunities. Myself and other Captains will be doing daily seminars at Fishing Frank’s Fishing Village. Check the times for seminars in the brochure you receive at the gate.

I consider September a transitional month, especially after Labor Day Week when things normally slow down. Children and college students all returning back to school and non-vacation routines. Some good news for those living here or visiting in September is that water traffic and fishing pressure is less than most other months of the tourist season. I have noticed improvement in the water quality for most all areas ranging from Ft. Myers Beach to and including Charlotte Harbor. I applaud the temporary restrictions on the harvesting of Snook and Redfish until the FWC can assess any level of impact from Red Tide and Algae Bloom on fish populations. This does not mean that we cannot catch Snook or Redfish, we just need to release them unharmed. After all, most anglers enjoy the time on the water catching fish, as much as, if not more, than eating them.
