Here in Southwest Florida, boating isn’t just a lifestyle, it’s a passion that brings us together on and off the water. And whether boaters realize it or not, it takes a village to keep our boating community going! So, we’re taking a closer look at two local organizations that support boaters and make significant contributions to our area’s marine industry through education: Edison Sailing Center and Fort Myers Technical College.

SPRINGTIME BOATING AND FISHING IN SW FLORIDA

It is that time of year when I relish the opportunity to climb aboard Fish Face II with clients and once in a great while with my 1st Mate Vicki. In spite of the recent and existing Pandemic (Corona Virus) our Cape Coral Mayor Joe Coviello, City Council members and Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno, had the savvy and foresight to leave open the city boat ramps for residents and visitors to enjoy boating and fishing activities so long as there is compliance with the ‘Social Distancing Guidelines’.

LOTS TO SEE AT THE BONITA SPRINGS BOAT SHOW

The 31st Annual Bonita Springs Boat Show begins next week and runs Thursday, March 5 through Sunday, March 8. With hundreds of boats on display from the area’s major dealers, there’s a model for every boater and every budget. In addition to boats, the show features a variety of marine accessories, engines, electronics, boat lifts, services, helpful how-to information, plus plenty of food and cold beverages. OCTOBER FISHING REPORT

The fishing has been fantastic over the past month. This years October catches have been better than some previous seasons over the last several years. Only a few reports regarding Algae Blooms and Red Tide exists compared to a year ago. SW Florida waters are clean. The inshore and offshore waters of SW Florida are full of hungry fish again, with lots of different species for anglers to target.
