WOW IT IS HOT! I am not just speaking to the fishing but to the July summer heat. Nonetheless, the winds have been tame and the storms not a big issue this year so far. Read more “CAPTAIN TERRY SAYS JULY MAY BE HOT, BUT SO IS THE FISHING!”
Boating and fishing have been exceptionally good during the month of May. Winds have subsided since the early months allowing more and more boaters and anglers to enjoy our estuaries both inshore and offshore.
The Bonita Springs Boat Show was a huge success thanks to the efforts of John and Kyle Good. The quality of the vendors and displays made every day of the show enjoyable with great crowds in attendance. Read more “Springtime fishing with Captain Terry of Fish Face Charters”
The first weekend of March (3,4,5 and 6th) will mark the annual Bonita Springs, Florida Boat Show. It will offer opportunities of a lifetime for many who visit the SW MARINE INDUSTRIES BOAT AND FISHING SHOW at the Grey Hound Facility in Bonita Springs. October 2020 did not disappoint as the Redfish bite was good. Moreover, it seemed that virtually every species that inhabit our SW Florida waterways are here in good numbers. They say the fish follow the bait. That being said, there is plenty of bait around for cast netting and purchasing. Crabs, Shrimp, Mullet, Pilchard, Glass Minnows and Threadfins galore! Birds are everywhere (inshore and offshore) diving ferociously to get their bellies full. Plenty of fish, such as Spanish Mackerel and Seatrout, lurking just below the surface for the opportunity to gorge themselves.

October is definitely a ‘transitional’ month for most any of the Florida waters when it comes to inshore or offshore fishing. Air and water temperatures are coming down with the advent of the cold fronts from the north, east and northwest. Reef species move to shallower water and even inshore in some instances. Nonetheless, all species remain active and in good numbers with more migratory species, such as Spanish Mackerel, Permit and Kingfish arriving daily. Summertime heat is over.
Boating and Fishing this summer appear to be the preferred past time of Floridians to get out and about during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Outdoor activities offer freedom from confined, indoor activities that make Social Distancing very hard to manage. Nothing like being on the water enjoying our beautiful weather. I predict that the marine industry will continue to drive the economy long after the Corona Virus is gone.

It is that time of year when I relish the opportunity to climb aboard Fish Face II with clients and once in a great while with my 1st Mate Vicki. In spite of the recent and existing Pandemic (Corona Virus) our Cape Coral Mayor Joe Coviello, City Council members and Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno, had the savvy and foresight to leave open the city boat ramps for residents and visitors to enjoy boating and fishing activities so long as there is compliance with the ‘Social Distancing Guidelines’.
