Most all species were active in June and the harvesting was great on both the Atlantic and Gulf Coast areas.
June Inshore fishing in the SW Region featured good Snook, Redfish, Tarpon and Seatrout. This should continue throughout July. The temperatures are hot, but not as hot on the water, if there is a breeze.
Likewise, offshore fishing in the SW Region was good for virtually all Snappers, Groupers and other reef species. The only issue is that most success has been reported 50 to 70 miles out (150-170ft. of depth) in the gulf.

The Atlantic side inshore fishing yielded Snook, Redfish and large Mangrove Snappers while the Offshore trips yielded big Yellowtail and Mutton Snappers (Mutton Snapper are spawing). Reef fishing in the Atlantic is much closer to shore, only 5 miles out.

Further out the Dolphin (Dorado) and Wahoo are easy targets if one can work with all of the seagrass floating at large. It is further my understanding that another huge ‘bloom’ is headed to our fisheries on the Atlantic side sometime in July. I hope not as I am scheduled to return to the Florida Keys mid-July for another week of fishing.
