WOW IT IS HOT! I am not just speaking to the fishing but to the July summer heat. Nonetheless, the winds have been tame and the storms not a big issue this year so far. Inshore, fishing has been pretty good for Redfish and Seatrouts. Snook and Mangrove Snapper have been ‘on fire’ with good numbers and sizes.

Pictured here is Brent Walker (my son-in-law) of St. Louis, Missouri with a nice size mid-July Snook. He and I spent a morning catching a lot of them. He was vacationing here during the second week of July with my daughter, Stacie and granddaughters, Taylor and Ali. Brent is also pictured along with Taylor and her nice Redfish caught in the backcountry Mangroves. This was ‘billed’ as their last family trip together, as Taylor is engaged to be married next June. Congratulations Taylor on the engagement and the Redfish!

Honeymooners, Joe and Robin Youngblood from the San Antonio area are each pictured with Snook. Snook was on their ‘bucket’ list and fortunately, I was able to deliver. Their friends Harry and Sheila Holt accompanied them on their trip to Florida. They all caught plenty of Snook and finished up the charter at Cabbage Key to celebrate the ‘catch’s’. Joe and Robin plan to return to Cape Coral to fish for Tarpon next May. Looking forward to the opportunity to fish with them again. The offshore catch has been good as well. For the most part the weather has been cooperative. Nice size grouper and snapper are being caught in deeper waters of 100ft. or more. Water temperature is hot and the big fish are farther out. Be safe and cognizant of the wind forecasts.
