January fishing has been really good and my suspect is that it will continue during times of good weather. However, cold fronts should tend to improve Sheepshead harvest with more catches and larger fish to boot. Early to middle month January catches included the following for both new, repeat clients and fishing friends.
Pictured is my good friend Roger Chase of Marshalltown, Iowa with granddaughter Katy Weese and her friend Zac Brackett, both of La Moillee, Iowa. We recently spent an afternoon together on Fish Face II catching a lot of fish and celebrated over cocktails at Cabbage Key before retiring for the night. Matt and Katy caught a variety of fish including the large Seatrout and Snook that Matt is pictured with. I always have a great time with Roger, his wife Sally (when she shows up), their family and friends.
The previous day I had the opportunity to spend the afternoon with regular clients Lee Longstretch of Cape Coral and Tom Buzzi of Akron, Ohio. Each are pictured with a Redfish as well as featured together with Spanish Mackerels. Great job guys! See you both again in February.
Finally, I had the pleasure of spending a beautiful day with Julie Soberly of Cape Coral, her daughter Mary and son-in-law Chris Rajcit of Greenville, S. C. catching Reds, Snook, Seatrout, Sheepshead and Spanish Mackerels. Mary is pictured with a large Redfish while Chris proudly displays his Snook catch. Julie and I met last year at the German Center in Cape Coral where we shared stories of a mutual friend from her hometown of Carbondale, Illinois. We had a great time on the water and ate great lunch at Cabbage Key to top off the fishing trip. Looking forward to being with all three of them next year.
Prior to the above charters, 1st Mate Vicki and I took a break from our daily routine of scheduling and running charters. We spent 3 days in Las Vegas, enjoying the sites, gaming, entertainment and dining. We are pictured together after lunch at the newly opened (Gordon Ramsey’s) Hell’s Kitchen on the strip in front of Cesar’s Palace. We recommend that everyone give it a try when there. We are back and ready for the season.
The remainder of January should continue to produce a lot of catches on the flats, around docks and structures. This is Captain Terry Fisher of Fish Face Charters LLC, wishing everyone ‘tight’ lines.
