The Ft. Myers Boat Show proved to be another huge success with more vendors than ever. 1st Mate Vicki and I were honored when friends and clients stopped at our Fish Face Charter booth to chat and talk ‘fish’!

More fish were caught the earlier part of November than the latter part, due to cold fronts and windy conditions. Snook, Redfish, Pompano, Spanish Mackerel and Seatrout provided most of the inshore action. Offshore, the bite was good for Lane and Mangrove Snapper. Red, Black and Gag Grouper were not uncommon. Grouper are moving in closer to shore as cooler waters prevail.

Pictured is my cousin, Ray Massey of Debary, Florida with both a Snook and a Redfish that he caught while visiting Vicki and I in early November. We had a great time fishing together and had both of these fish hooked and landed within an hour of departure. They were both caught on live shrimp along some mangroves on a high tide.

Good friend and long time client, Dick Sharrer of Pennsylvania, is shown with a nice Spanish Mackerel and Pompano. Dick seems to always find a way to catch Pompano. I took Dick and his wife Barbara out to find locations to catch fish for when his grandchildren came down for a vacation. Dick reported that he rented a boat and they caught lots of fish. Nice job Dick!

Good weather is forecast for next several days. Baitfish are scarce but shrimp are good size and readily available at most bait shops. Look for game fish to be holding in the deeper holes and under structure on low tides. Check out my article in print in the December edition of Coastal Angler Magazine or go ‘on line’ to (www.coastalanglermag.com) to read about ‘fishing SW Florida year round’. It will be in the Ft. Myers section and offers suggestions on which species should be targeted during certain times of the year.

This is Captain Terry Fisher of Fish Face Charters LLC wishing everyone tighter lines! Charter information may be obtained at www.fishfacecharters.com. Feel free to call me direct at 239-357-6829 or email me at [email protected]. Vessel owners may contact me as ‘Captain for Hire’ by the hour to assist with navigation, safety, fishing locations and techniques that insure good fishing and boating days on our beautiful waters of SW Florida.
