SPRINGTIME BOATING AND FISHING IN SW FLORIDA

It is that time of year when I relish the opportunity to climb aboard Fish Face II with clients and once in a great while with my 1^st Mate Vicki. In spite of the recent and existing Pandemic (Corona Virus) our Cape Coral Mayor Joe Coviello, City Council members and Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno, had the savvy and foresight to leave open the city boat ramps for residents and visitors to enjoy boating and fishing activities so long as there is compliance with the ‘Social Distancing Guidelines’.

The 31^st Annual Bonita Springs Boat Show begins next week and runs Thursday, March 5 through Sunday, March 8. With hundreds of boats on display from the area’s major dealers, there’s a model for every boater and every budget. JANUARY FISHING REPORT

January fishing has been really good and my suspect is that it will continue during times of good weather. However, cold fronts should tend to improve Sheepshead harvest with more catches and larger fish to boot. Early to middle month January catches included the following for both new, repeat clients and fishing friends.

BOAT RENTALS 101

We live in a waterfront playground, so it’s no surprise most Southwest Floridians either own a boat or get to tag along with friends and neighbors from time to time. We’re also lucky to have plenty of rental boats available along our coast. For full-time residents and seasonal visitors alike, taking a loaner for a spin is a great way to enjoy our waterways without the long-term commitment of boat ownership.

2019 HOLIDAY FISHING

December has proven to be another fantastic year for catching fish. Not withstanding some of the nuances that we deal with from time to time, SW Florida estuaries have risen above all others in the lower 48 states to continue to be the place to ‘catch a fish of a lifetime’.

NOVEMBER FISHING REPORT

The latter part of November proved to be good for boaters and fishermen/ladies alike. We had a great 2019 Boat Show in Ft. Myers on the waterfront with lots of vendors displaying and selling the latest in marine related products. Myself, 1^stMate Vicki, Nadeen and Phil of Coastal Angler Magazine enjoyed meeting a number of attendees along with clients at the Fishing Village during the event. We are now looking forward to the Bonita Boat Show scheduled for March 5, 6, 7 and 8 at the Race Track Fairgrounds on Bonita Beach Road.
