Hello ‘fishing and boating’ friends. The holiday’s and early part of this month (January) have brought out the best in people’s desire to put the stalemated Pandemic behind them to enjoy outdoor life on the water, fishing and boating. Many past clients and friends continue to insist on ‘getting out in the fresh air to enjoy the beaches and fishing’.
Fishing has been good. The weather has made it challenging at times due to the unusual cold fronts which normally pack an additional ‘punch’, with stronger winds. Nonetheless, most of my clients and friends enjoy the challenge and it seems they ‘always’ deliver on catching! Pictured are the children and their friend, of a wonderful and loyal family, Eric and Jamie Carlson from Hinton, Iowa whom I have had the pleasure of fishing with over the years. My youngest and favorite ‘junior’ angler Tate Carlson, is pictured with a 27” Redfish he hooked and landed on his own. Nice job Tate! His brother Glen is showing off a huge Black Drum he hooked and landed, while his friend, Keenan Wieseler ‘sports’ a big Sheepshead. Good job guys and looking forward to next time.
Chuck Theobald from Indianapolis (residing here as well), is an accomplished fisherman and invited me to go offshore in quest of big grouper. He recently purchased a 36 ft. Pursuit and wanted to take his brothers fishing in the gulf during their recent, annual visit and invited me along for the ride. It was a great day and they caught a number of fish, including the ‘brother in law’s (name Chuck as well) 34’ Red Grouper. They are all pictured with their catches as a family. Wonderful men. Thanks for the memories Chuck. Let’s do it again!
Fishing should remain good in a number of areas depending on spots of Red Tide. Fish areas of SW Florida that avoids those spots and fishing will be favorable, if not good. I am looking forward however to warmer and less windy conditions over the next few weeks.
