In fact, Florida sees upwards of 100 thunderstorm days each year, and while a brief storm on land isn’t a problem, it can quickly become a life-threatening situation on the water.

Boating and Fishing this summer appear to be the preferred past time of Floridians to get out and about during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Outdoor activities offer freedom from confined, indoor activities that make Social Distancing very hard to manage. Nothing like being on the water enjoying our beautiful weather. I predict that the marine industry will continue to drive the economy long after the Corona Virus is gone.

The 31st Annual Bonita Springs Boat Show begins next week and runs Thursday, March 5 through Sunday, March 8. With hundreds of boats on display from the area’s major dealers, there’s a model for every boater and every budget. In addition to boats, the show features a variety of marine accessories, engines, electronics, boat lifts, services, helpful how-to information, plus plenty of food and cold beverages. We live in a waterfront playground, so it’s no surprise most Southwest Floridians either own a boat or get to tag along with friends and neighbors from time to time. We’re also lucky to have plenty of rental boats available along our coast. For full-time residents and seasonal visitors alike, taking a loaner for a spin is a great way to enjoy our waterways without the long-term commitment of boat ownership.
