Now that funding has been approved by the State of Florida to address Lake O, where do we go from here. Join us on August 15 for an evening discussion with Captain Daniel Andrews from Captains for Clean Water.

Daniel Andrews and the Captains for Clean Water have been very vocal and involved in Lake O issues, and Tiger Bay would like to better understand their position. Captains for Clean Water started out as a group of fishing guides from Fort Myers, FL that “had enough” of Florida’s poor water management practices. Today, they are one of the fastest-growing water quality-focused nonprofit organizations advocating for the elimination of harmful, large-scale Lake Okeechobee discharges into the Caloosahatchee and St. Lucie River Estuaries by restoring the natural flow of Lake Okeechobee water south into the Everglades and Florida Bay. Their focus is simple: Restoring the natural southern flow of Lake Okeechobee water is essential to the survival of our estuaries, the health of the Everglades, and the long-term viability of South Florida’s largest drinking water source (the Biscayne Aquifer).
